Real estate developers in India until very late were scattered and worked independently of each other, until the establishment of Confederation of Real Estate Developer's Associations of India (CREDAI). This apex body constitutes of more than 3500 organized and individual developers all over the country. Real estate in India is mostly driven around residential projects, considering the ever increasing demand for living space. However, the commercial development sector is also fast catching up, with the growing interest in malls, multiplexes and the need for office spaces. Indian developers like DLF, Unitech or Emaar MGF are very often offering self sufficient mini townships that include houses, shops, clubs, parks and more. Larger integrated townships on several hundred acres and SEZs are also coming up all over the country, to accommodate the consumer and commercial needs of a booming Indian economy.
